Senior Benefits Specialist
As a senior member of the Benefits organization, the Senior Benefits Specialist plays a key role in delivering an exceptional benefits experience to Oracle’s U.S. employees and their families. This position serves as a subject matter expert and trusted resource across a broad range of benefit programs, policies, eligibility requirements, and enrollment systems.
The Senior Benefits Specialist independently manages complex employee inquiries and escalations received through the Oracle Benefits Portal, email, and telephone. The role requires strong judgment, deep benefits expertise, and the ability to interpret policies and regulations, evaluate unique or ambiguous situations, and determine appropriate resolutions with limited oversight.
In addition to providing direct employee support, this role contributes to the ongoing administration, effectiveness, and evolution of Oracle’s benefits programs. The Senior Benefits Specialist partners across the Benefits organization and with Payroll, Finance, HR, external vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues, improve processes, implement programs, and ensure accurate and compliant benefits administration.
As an experienced member of the team, the Senior Benefits Specialist is also expected to mentor and develop colleagues, share expertise, identify opportunities for improvement, and help establish best practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert and escalation resource for complex benefits questions involving plan provisions, eligibility, enrollment, employee life events, and benefits administration.
- Independently research, assess, and resolve complex or non-routine employee cases, exercising sound judgment and determining when additional expertise, leadership involvement, or legal/compliance guidance is appropriate.
- Provide personalized, accurate, and timely benefits support to U.S. employees and their families through the Oracle Benefits Portal, email, telephone, and other employee support channels.
- Interpret benefit plan provisions, policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements and translate complex information into clear, actionable guidance for employees and stakeholders.
- Own day-to-day benefits administration activities, including data validation, reporting, reconciliations, issue resolution, and the delivery of information to Payroll, Finance, external vendors, and other partners.
- Lead or independently manage benefits projects from planning through implementation, coordinating stakeholders, timelines, deliverables, risks, communications, and follow-up activities.
- Play a lead role in the implementation of new benefit programs, plan changes, system enhancements, annual enrollment activities, and other benefits initiatives.
- Identify operational gaps, recurring employee issues, and opportunities to improve processes, systems, communications, and the overall employee benefits experience; recommend and drive solutions.
- Partner with benefits vendors to investigate and resolve complex issues, monitor service delivery, and escalate performance or administration concerns when appropriate.
- Mentor, coach, and provide guidance to Benefits team members, helping build subject matter expertise, problem-solving capabilities, and consistent service practices across the team.
- Develop and deliver training for Benefits team members on benefit programs, processes, systems, regulatory requirements, and emerging issues.
- Lead employee-facing presentations and informational webinars, including new hire orientation, annual enrollment education, and benefit program overviews.
- Support benefits audits and compliance activities by researching issues, validating data, preparing documentation, identifying discrepancies, and coordinating corrective actions.
- Handle confidential employee and medical information with discretion and in accordance with HIPAA requirements and Oracle policies.
- Serve as a trusted partner to Benefits leadership by surfacing trends, risks, recurring issues, and opportunities that may require broader program or policy consideration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in employee benefits, benefits administration, HR operations, or a related field, preferably supporting a large and complex employee population.
- Deep working knowledge of U.S. employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), disability, leave, and related health and welfare programs.
- Strong knowledge of applicable benefits-related laws and regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, ADA, FMLA, and other relevant federal and state requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate complex or ambiguous situations, exercise sound judgment, assess risk, and make well-reasoned decisions within established policies and program parameters.
- Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, ownership, and accountability while recognizing situations that require escalation or additional expertise.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, recognize patterns, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects or significant workstreams involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and defined deadlines.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and organizational levels without relying on formal authority.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop less-experienced team members and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style and level of detail for employees, peers, leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to translate complex benefit provisions, regulations, and administrative processes into clear and understandable information.
- Proactive and improvement-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to challenge existing processes constructively and introduce new ideas and solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple complex priorities, respond effectively to changing business needs, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidence when handling sensitive and confidential employee information.
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively navigate complex business systems, benefits platforms, and administrative processes.
- Experience supporting audits, data validation, reconciliations, and compliance-related activities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, email, and other business productivity tools.
- Experience working with benefits administration platforms, case management systems, HRIS applications, and vendor systems strongly preferred.
- Prior experience working in Oracle systems and tools highly preferred.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
