Descrizione

The OCI Robotics Cloud team is developing a secure, scalable platform that allows customers to connect, manage, monitor, and operate heterogeneous robot fleets through consistent cloud services.

Our platform includes robot registration and identity, fleet and mission management, telemetry, digital twins, software lifecycle management, and AI-powered robotic services.

One of our key initiatives is an AI-assisted, spec-driven robot onboarding platform. Rather than building custom integrations for every robot vendor, we are creating standardized service contracts, SDKs, edge interfaces, and reusable adapters that allow new robots to integrate rapidly with OCI.

As a Principal Platform Software Engineer, you will own major areas of this platform—from architecture and API design through implementation and production operation. You will work across cloud, edge, AI, and robotics technologies while helping other engineers solve complex platform problems.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and own major services within the OCI Robotics Cloud platform.
  • Design distributed services for robot registration, identity, mission orchestration, fleet management, telemetry, digital twins, and software lifecycle management.
  • Define secure APIs, service contracts, SDKs, and cloud-to-edge interfaces for heterogeneous robot platforms.
  • Build AI-assisted onboarding workflows that transform robot specifications and capabilities into integration artifacts, adapters, and developer guidance.
  • Design reusable frameworks that isolate vendor-specific robot implementations behind consistent cloud interfaces.
  • Make architectural tradeoffs involving scalability, availability, security, latency, maintainability, and operational complexity.
  • Drive features and services from technical design through implementation, deployment, observability, and production support.
  • Work directly with robotics platforms and edge systems to validate cloud abstractions against real-world integration requirements.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and technical collaboration.
  • Collaborate across OCI teams to integrate robotics services with identity, networking, AI, security, and developer infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of software development experience building backend systems, distributed services, or cloud platforms.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
  • Strong experience with REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern production infrastructure.
  • Experience owning the design and delivery of complex production services.
  • Strong system design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines and drive technical decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ROS 2 or other robotics software frameworks.
  • Familiarity with DDS, MQTT, OPC-UA, VDA5050, or similar communication protocols.
  • Experience connecting robots, autonomous systems, IoT devices, or edge systems to cloud platforms.
  • Experience designing APIs, SDKs, developer platforms, adapter frameworks, or extensible service architectures.
  • Understanding of robot navigation, localization, perception, teleoperation, mission execution, or fleet management.
  • Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, Webots, or other simulation platforms.
  • Familiarity with robot/device identity, edge security, workload identity, OTA software deployment, or zero-trust architectures.
  • Experience with LLM-based applications, AI-assisted code generation, agentic systems, embodied AI, or vision-language models.

Why This Role Is Different

You won’t be building software for just one robot.

You’ll build platform capabilities that allow many different robots to behave like first-class cloud resources.

The engineering challenge spans distributed systems, robotics interoperability, edge computing, security, and AI-assisted software development. You’ll have substantial ownership of both architecture and implementation while helping establish patterns that can scale across robot vendors, customers, and industries.
