Position:
We are looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join our Services Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on experience building AI-powered tooling on top of a large-scale music catalog, working with real production data and modern cloud infrastructure. You'll help design and build an MCP-based (Model Context Protocol) ecosystem that gives our Operations team an AI-assisted toolchain for data investigation, metadata auditing, anomaly detection, and automated reporting, learning how production environments and agentic systems actually work. This is an extracurricular internship (tirocinio extracurriculare) lasting 6 months, with a monthly reimbursement of €800.
Responsibilities:
Explore and map the Recording music catalog architecture, spanning relational data (MySQL/Aurora) and non-relational document stores (DynamoDB)
Build specialized MCP servers, skills, and tools exposing catalog data, resources, and prompt templates to AI agents
Implement operations guardrails such as access controls, read-only permissions, rate limiting, and query execution safeguards, so agents can query live stores without compromising production stability
Instrument and monitor inference, context window, embedding, and query costs, treating cost as an engineering metric alongside accuracy and latency
Containerize services with Docker and deploy to Kubernetes via Helm using our standard Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) workflow
Run staged testing with the Operations team, promote to production, and support a company-wide beta release
Debug, test, and improve backend services across the stack
Requirements:
Good knowledge of at least one of Node.js/TypeScript, Python, or PHP (backend development, async processing)
Basic understanding of database querying and modeling (SQL and/or NoSQL)
Interest in AI tooling, LLMs, and the Model Context Protocol (Tools, Resources, Prompts)
Interest in cloud technologies and DevOps (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform are a plus)
Understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows
Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn
Ability to work in English
